ANIZE BURGER

Competitive Company Coordinator
Lead Teacher & Vocal Coach

Anize Burger obtained her National Diploma in Drama at the Technikon Pretoria, South Africa (now known as Tshwane University of Technology) studying under the well-known TV and Stage actress Woutrine Theron, majoring in Acting, Singing and Poetry.

She started her career by freelancing for the Sun International Hotel & Casino Group as a vocalist in 3 consecutive extravaganzas. Thereafter she joined the original pop band Cinema for a period of 3 years during which time she did backing vocals on their last album, Once in your life, also recorded a solo cover album (Extreme dance hits Volume 1, just girls) and featured in the show ‘Stars in your Eyes’ at the Carousel Hotel & Casino. Cinema achieved a no.1 hit in the Far East and Anize toured Malaysia, Singapore and Bahrain extensively for 5 months.

She then made a move towards musical theatre and joined the successful and long-running all-girl production Girl Talk. Girl Talk also toured Malaysia performing two Royal Command Performances for the King and Queen of Malaysia. On her return, Anize continued her association with Richard Loring Enterprises and performed in the follow-up production Girl Talk 2000 to great acclaim.

After almost 3 years of performing Girl Talk, Anize sought to broaden her horizons and was presented with the opportunity to join the People’s Theatre production My Way allowing her to indulge in cabaret. She subsequently took on the challenge of Broadway musicals and was seen in Absolutely Fabulously Broadway 2 for which she was nominated for a Vita award (2002). Her following production was the arena sized Sisters in Song – a tribute to the Divas of the Pop World – at Emperor’s Palace, formerly known as Caesars Casino. After re-locating to Cape Town in 2003 she teamed up with South African Stage and Screen personalities Charl van Heyningen & AJ v/d Merwe in the popular Movies Greatest Music. These performances took them as far as Namibia.

Her South African career is littered with corporate performances for companies all over South Africa, including Vodacom, Volkswagen, MTN, DiData and Nedbank amongst many others. Anize's career took a back seat to married and family life over the next few years and also brought a relocation to the UK in January 2007. Since then most performances have been charitable apart from a corporate function for Mercedes in Stuttgart last year.

Her most recent commitment and challenge has been joining Monarch Studios Ltd where she heads up the Song and Dance Department. She is broadening her teaching skills by working towards her Acrobatic Arts Module 1 Certification in May 2018 and boosting her natural administrative skills as Coordinator for the Competitive Team.
